Yes, we have a physician
who is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, responding to
the needs of our residents on an on-call basis.
If I need to go to the hospital,
where will I be sent?
The nearest hospital
is Hemet Valley Medical Center located minutes away from Chateau
Battiste.
Do you offer hospice services?
If so, how is the service provided?
Yes, hospice services
are provided to those residents in need of such service. With
a simple call from our administration to the hospice agency,
a hospice nurse will evaluate the resident, after which the resident's
family or responsible party will be contacted, whereupon a full
report will be given by the hospice nurse with an approval for
hospice services.
What does hospice service
provide?
Hospice is comprised
of an interdisciplinary team of specially trained nurses. Hospice
services provide and promote physical, emotional and spiritual
comfort. Once a resident is on hospice, as needed personal care
provided by registered nurses is available, also available are
physician in-house visits, social worker assistance, home health
aide, spiritual counseling at the request of the family, availability
of a dietician, therapists, i.e., physical, occupational etc.
Necessary daily items are provided i.e., diapers, Ensure, medications,
medical equipment, medical supplies, oxygen etc.
How do we pay for hospice?
Hospice care is fully
covered by the Medicare and MediCal benefit. Most private insurance
companies and managed care plans (HMO) have hospice benefits.
Special funds are available for those without resources to pay
for hospice care.
What if the resident no longer
needs hospice?
This does happen, at
that time, the resident is removed from the hospice agency's
care, with detailed follow-up report to his/her attending physician.
When on hospice do we have
to change doctors?
No, you do not have to
change doctors, hospice works with your doctor on all levels.
What is respite care?
Chateau Battiste accepts
hospice patients in a respite capacity. This wonderful provision
allows the resident's caregiver a much needed break in the daily
care giving responsibilities. Conveniently, the costs of room
and board are paid by hospice.
What are the policies about
holding of a bed during a hospital stay or other absences from
the residence?
We consider the resident's
room to be his/her home and will be reserved unless otherwise
notified by the resident or responsible party.
How much advance notice do
you provide before increasing charges for services?
Resident "Level
of Care" increase fees may be implemented immediately, as
needed. Any other increases, such as cost of living, may be
implemented after a 60-day notice has been issued to the Resident
or Responsible Party.
What are current visiting
hours?
Family and or friends
are welcome from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm. Special circumstances
will always be considered upon request.
Do you offer dementia care?
Does the residence have an Alzheimer's or dementia-specific
unit or wing?
Yes, Chateau Battiste
is licensed with the State of California as a Dementia care assisted
living residence. Our dementia residents reside in designated
living quarters.
Is the staff trained to handle
residents with Alzheimer's or dementia related illnesses?
Bi-monthly training in-services
are given at which time dementia related information is distributed
and discussed, meeting the Community Care Licensing Division's
criteria.
What are Chateau Battiste's
procedures for resident incontinence issues?
Chateau Battiste has
an incontinent supply (diaper) program. At the time of admission
the resident or responsible party may sign up for that program
or privately purchase incontinent supplies (diapers). The packages
are identified, stored and used; a record of usage is maintained
for each resident.
What is your staff turnover?
Chateau Battiste
has a very low rate of staff turnover. This benefits our residents
because they are surrounded by friendly faces who are familiar
with their individual needs and can constantly monitor their
condition.
What are the accommodations

Resident's accommodations
are in comfortably furnished private or semi-private rooms.
Can I bring my own furniture?
Yes, you may make your room as individual as you are, with your
own furnishings, photos, mementos and decorative touches.
Does Chateau Battiste accept couples?
Yes, we welcome couples.
Does Chateau Battiste accept
animals?
Pets are welcome, however
the resident must be able to care for his/her pet. Chateau Battiste
does have a monthly pet fee.
